CONNECTED: Finding Your Inner Voice in a Noisy World
Updated: Oct 15
What does it really mean to be connected? When you hear the word connection, what comes to mind?
Maybe it's the relationship you have with someone you love, or maybe it's that feeling of being completely understood without having to explain yourself. I would explain it like it is a feeling, a knowing, or a moment in time where something just makes sense. That is also known as intuition in my books. We spend so much of our lives looking for connection outside of ourselves, sometimes we don't even realize it. We want to feel seen, heard, understood, and loved. We look for it in our relationships, our friendships, our families, and sometimes even in the approval of complete strangers. I wonder though how often do we stop and ask ourselves whether we feel connected to the person we're spending every single day with? Ourselves!
This is actually one of the most important relationships you will ever have. Most times, when we are somewhere in between responsibilities and everyday chaos of life, we lose touch with that person. It's not intentional but it definitely happens, to almost all of us at some point. The gift here is that we always have the opportunity to find our voice beneath all that noise.
I have to ask have you ever had a feeling about something but talked yourself out of it? Maybe you were in a situation you knew wasn't right for you but you stayed because you didn't want to disappoint someone. Maybe you wanted to try something new, but that little voice in your head convinced you that you weren't good enough. I think so many of us can relate to that! We're constantly surrounded by opinions, expectations, social media, responsibilities, and people telling us who we should be or how we should live. All that time listening to everything around us somewhere in all of that noise, our own voice gets a little bit smaller and a little bit more quiet.
Finding your inner voice isn't morphing into a completely new person. It's about getting reintroduced with the person that has always been in there. You are a person who has dreams, opinions, feelings, boundaries, and a sense of knowing that deserves to be acknowledged. You don't have to be a psychic, a medium, or even particularly spiritual to begin exploring that connection. You just have to be willing to listen!
Connection truly is not just about spirituality. As a psychic medium and a person who feels all the feelings on a quiet day, connection is a huge part of my life and the work I do. Something I really want people to learn with What The Halo is that connection goes so so much further than communicating with Spirit. It's about connecting with ourselves, with the people around us, and with the experiences that shape who we are. It's about understanding our emotions, recognizing our needs, and learning to trust ourselves a little more each day. For some people, connection might involve meditation, spirituality, or exploring their intuition. For others, it might look like finally saying no without feeling guilty.
It might mean leaving a situation that no longer feels right, allowing yourself to grieve something you've lost, or giving yourself permission to pursue something you've always wanted.
Sometimes connection and learning to hear yourself comes in the messiest chapters of our lives. Sometimes it's that moment when you realize you've been putting everyone else's needs ahead of your own for a really long time.
I think one of the biggest misconceptions about personal growth is that we need to make these enormous changes to become more aligned with ourselves . People will often convince themselves that you need to meditate for an hour every morning, completely change your routines, or somehow become the most peaceful version of ourselves overnight to make that happen. WRONG. You can start as small as asking yourself how you are feeling today and then really being honest with your answer.
The important part is creating opportunities to hear yourself again. The more familiar you become with your own thoughts, feelings, values, and needs, the easier it can become to recognize when something in your life isn't aligned with who you are.
If there's one thing I hope you take away from this, it's that you don't have to search the entire world to begin finding connection. The place we need to start is within ourselves with the feelings we've been ignoring or the dreams we have been putting aside. You are are going to be your own best friend and that connection starts with deciding that your voice matters, today.
Lot's of love!
Medium Natalie
